About the Role

Sir Robert McAlpine is seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to join our team as a Substructure Specialist. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, coordination, and management of sub-contractors employed in various trades within the substructure area of works.

This role requires strong interfacing skills between internal departments and external agencies, including Architects, Engineers, Construction Workers, Sub-contractors, Client agents, Clerk of Works, and Site Staff. You will coordinate and manage sub-contractors, ensuring SRM obligations are understood and discharged.

Your Responsibilities
  • Oversee the design, coordination, and management of sub-contractors in the substructure area of works.
  • Interface with internal departments and external agencies to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Coordinate and manage sub-contractors, ensuring SRM obligations are met.
  • Organize and conduct regular site progress meetings with sub-contractors to monitor progress, quality, and safety.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • The ability to prepare a 3-week look-ahead programme with assistance from a project planner.
  • Proven working experience on a construction site environment.
  • Experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Professional membership in a construction industry-related organization (e.g., ICE, CIOB, RICS, etc.).
