Position Overview

Location: York Hospital with cross-site responsibilities Full-time

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a Specialty Dentist in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at York Hospital.

The selected candidate will become part of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team providing services to both York and Scarborough Hospitals. We promote a flexible working environment and are open to discussing tailored working patterns with prospective candidates. The role will involve working across various locations as the integrated service necessitates.

The successful applicant will collaborate with a team of Consultants, Associate Specialists, and Specialty Dentists. Participation in a 1 in 6 on-call rota is required. It is crucial for the candidate to seamlessly integrate into the existing team and contribute to the enhancement of departmental services. The candidate will independently manage patient consultations and perform outpatient and day case dental extractions. A well-established Joint Orthognathic clinic operates at the York site, supported by our Orthodontic Consultants. The Maxillofacial Surgery Team offers comprehensive ablative and reconstructive services as part of the Head and Neck multidisciplinary team, working closely with Occulo-plastic surgeons and Restorative and Dental consultants.

Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES OF THE ROLE

The primary responsibility of this position is to deliver a comprehensive clinical service to patients in the York area.

1. Adhere to the GMC/GDC standards of conduct for medical professionals at all times.

2. Maintain patient confidentiality rigorously.

3. Execute duties as outlined in the attached job plan, in agreement with your Clinical Director.

4. Be accountable for the judicious and effective use of Trust resources and report to the Medical Director.

5. Attend the Trust's Corporate Induction upon commencement.

6. Participate in the Trust's mandatory training programs.

7. Oversee the clinical management of inpatients and outpatients under your care.

8. Facilitate research initiatives and ensure compliance with the Trust's intellectual property rights.

We transitioned to a Foundation Trust on 1 April 2007, which significantly altered our governance structure and strengthened our ties to the local community through the appointment of governors and members.

Holder of a recognized Dental Qualification Full registration with the General Dental Council without restrictions
