Job Summary

We are looking for an Apprentice Laboratory Technician to work with us in conducting routine and one-off testing, ensuring materials and product builds meet quality and compliance criteria. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that incoming raw materials, in-house components, and finished products are tested to meet acceptable performance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine and one-off testing to ensure materials and product builds meet quality and compliance criteria.
  • Ensure that incoming raw materials, in-house components, and finished products are tested to meet acceptable performance standards.
  • Comply with health and safety policies and procedures, including COSHH, risk assessments, and use of PPE, manual handling, emergency procedures.
  • Support the Laboratory Technician in carrying out Quality and New Product testing, including Accelerated Life Testing, material tensile strength testing, and biological cleanliness testing.
  • Prepare and coordinate testing samples to meet demand.
  • Carry out non-routine testing to support Innovation and Sustainability projects.
  • Record and document test results, including test report preparation for communication with internal and external parties.
  • Use simple statistical analysis to present and evaluate data.
  • Identify scientific information from literature to assess and explain results.
  • Develop a knowledge of relevant ISO and British Standards.
  • Assist in coordination of external testing where required.
  • Use Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) to complete analysis and reporting.
  • Communicate test results to non-technical stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Maintain the IC lab space to meet high standards of housekeeping and health and safety.
  • Carry out calibrations where appropriate.

  • Analytical and detail-oriented.
  • Passionate and interested in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Metallurgy.
  • Excellent communication of technical concepts.

  • Comfortable with written and verbal communication in English.
