Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Northampton General Hospital. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the Pharmacy Dispensary and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Accurately and promptly dispense prescriptions for in-patients, out-patients, day-patients, and leave/discharge patients.
  • Issue dispensed medicines to patients and confirm that they know how to use them.
  • Supply Controlled Drugs and maintain accurate records.
  • Undertake final-checking according to a defined policy when competence has been proven.
  • Undertake Enhanced Patient Counselling following appropriate training.
  • Participate in the late-night and weekend service provided by the Dispensary department.

Person Specification

We are looking for a Pharmacy Technician who possesses the following skills and qualities:

  • Evidence of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a team.
  • Computer skills, including dispensing and stock control systems.

We also require a Pharmacy Technician who is able to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, and who is committed to ongoing professional development and training.
