Job Title: Civil and Structural Engineering Technician

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Civil and Structural Engineering Technician to join our team in Edinburgh. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, with a HNC/HND or equivalent qualification, and a minimum of 2 years' experience in infrastructure and/or structural design.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operate AutoCAD efficiently and effectively, with Revit experience being a plus.
  2. Hold or be working towards Engineering Technician status or equivalent through a recognized professional institution.
  3. Have a good general knowledge of building construction.
  4. Produce neat and readable technical drawings on a wide range of construction and engineering projects.
  5. Detailed designs and production of reports.
  6. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Accurately interpret engineers' markups and drawings.
  8. Liaise effectively with the design team.

Requirements:

  1. Qualification in a relevant technical subject including elements of CAD/Drafting (HNC/HND or equivalent).
  2. Numerate with a focus on problem-solving.
  3. Some design ability with an application of engineering principles.
  4. Experience of working on timber structures would be beneficial but not essential.
  5. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  6. Commercial awareness in dealings with clients, proposals, and projects.
