The Lead Customer Insights Specialist will advocate for our customers by ensuring their needs and expectations are prioritized in the operations of the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
Team StructureThis position is part of the Customer Insight and Analysis team, which comprises researchers, data analysts, and digital specialists. Our mission is to provide high-quality, timely intelligence that guides the organization's strategy and enables our colleagues to access valuable insights for informed decision-making, driving growth, and enhancing our products and services.
The role involves collaboration with various teams across the charity, including marketing, product development, retail, and health services, to create insight plans, oversee research initiatives, and deliver findings that support strategic decisions.
Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing significant market research projects and collaborating with teams to leverage insights for decision-making, translating these into actionable research plans and briefs.
Responsibilities include managing outsourced projects with external research firms—covering procurement, project oversight, and quality assurance—as well as leading in-house projects from inception to completion, which includes:
- Creating briefs and designing sample frames and recruitment criteria.
- Developing research materials and managing fieldwork.
- Conducting analysis and presenting actionable insights.
Essential skills and experience include:
- Experience in a dedicated market or social research role (client-side or agency).
- Proficiency in applying various market or social research methodologies (both qualitative and quantitative) and analytical techniques, including designing and programming surveys and facilitating qualitative studies.
- Extensive experience in applying research to address diverse organizational challenges across different functions (e.g., brand tracking, customer satisfaction, product development).
- Experience in conducting desk research utilizing various sources.
- Familiarity with customer research in health-related sectors (preferred).

Interview ProcessThe interview process consists of two stages: the first stage involves a task emailed to candidates to complete shortly after their Microsoft Teams interview. The second stage includes a 30-minute task to be completed prior to the Microsoft Teams interview, followed by a discussion about the task during the interview.
