About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Lawyer to join our Adult Legal Team at Torbay Council. As a Senior Lawyer, you will play a key role in providing legal advice and support to our clients, including adult social care and community health teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality legal advice and guidance to clients on a wide range of adult services law matters, including Community Care, Mental Health, Mental Capacity, and adult social care.
  • Support the development and implementation of legal strategies and policies to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify and address legal issues and risks, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct research and analysis to stay up-to-date with changes in the law and provide expert advice to clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Admitted and practicing solicitor, legal executive (fellow), or barrister with up to 3 years PQE.
  • High level of knowledge of the law and procedure within the specialist area, including local government law.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal information effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients.
