Housing Options Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated professional to join our team as an Accommodation Advisor. As a key member of our Housing Needs Group, you will play a vital role in providing tailored advice and support to individuals and families at risk of homelessness.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide expert advice on housing options, training, and employment to customers threatened with homelessness or living in private rent accommodation.
- Respond effectively to prevent homelessness through advice, negotiation, mediation, or conciliation, and secure immediate access to alternative accommodation.
- Manage a caseload, maintain accurate records, and meet individual and service performance targets.
- Develop and maintain extensive knowledge of housing options, homelessness law, and related fields, including housing benefit and welfare rights.
- Deliver advice from drop-in services, attend advice and options surgeries, and visit customers at home as necessary.
- Liaise with the Private Sector Initiatives Team to match customers to available housing opportunities and plan the development of housing options.
- Stay up-to-date with housing legislation, local and national policy, and practice, and report on trends and new initiatives.
- Ensure effective referral of customers to partner service providers and make recommendations regarding the award of additional preference points.
- Assist households with Part VI self-assessment applications and help customers bid for permanent Council or Housing Association properties.
- Prepare information materials and consultation documents to support case work and policy work.
