Job Title: Residential Childcare Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Childcare Support Worker to join our team at North Lakes Children's Services. As a Support Care Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to young people in our residential care settings.

About the Role

This is a casual, sessional position that requires flexibility in your availability. You will be working with a team to provide 24/7 care and support to our young people, including sleep-in nights and shift work of up to 14 hours. Varied start times of 08:00, 12:00, and 14:00 will be required.

Main Responsibilities
  • Supporting daily routines, including getting the young people up, promoting personal hygiene, meals, and activities
  • Supporting room cleans, developing life skills, and promoting socialization
  • Attending medical and other appointments
  • Supporting activity planners and working with the young people on their targets
  • Completing daily paperwork, including day sheets and handover documents
  • Managing daily room checks and housecleaning tasks
  • Completing food and other shopping needs, including meal preparation and kitchen hygiene/laundry duties
  • Liaising with families and building relationships to ensure the young people's needs are met
Requirements
  • Flexibility in your availability is essential
  • Understanding of the issues that face young people in care
  • Hold a Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People's Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a small team
  • Willingness to undertake a DBS check at enhanced level
