Care Group Director of Medical Education/Consultant

We are seeking an experienced and inspirational consultant to join our Medical Education Department as a Care Group Director of Medical Education. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the education and training of current and future doctors in one of the largest trusts in the country.

The successful candidate will support the Director of Medical Education and hold a specific portfolio of work aligned to the Trust's Care Groups. They will oversee and coordinate work around the education and training of medical students and junior doctors at all levels, working collaboratively with Care Group Associate Medical Directors and managing directors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical education, leadership, and research, with excellent communication and leadership skills. They will be able to demonstrate significant educational management and leadership skills and experience, including the management of education programmes and resources.

Main Responsibilities
  • Attend regular care group and medical education business meetings to ensure education and training needs and issues are fully integrated into clinical and operational services.
  • Advocate for the voice of Medical Education within business and operational decisions.
  • Lead a team to ensure processes for learner support are implemented effectively in collaboration with other stakeholders.

Person Specification
  • Full GMC Registration
  • CCST Specialist Registration Postgraduate Certificate in Education OR Fellowship of the Academy of Medical Educators
  • Candidate must be a GMC recognised trainer
  • MA/PHD Medical Education or Education related
Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 5 years NHS experience
  • Evidence of educational leadership and research
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
Governance
  • Experience in Audit
  • Evidence of experience in Clinical Governance
  • Experience in service improvement
Other Requirements
  • Ability to commit to on-call work and travel across sites
Personal/Professional Attributes
  • Ability to speak up and advocate on behalf of those who can't
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
