Position Overview

As a key member of the leadership team at GroupM, the Vice President of Engineering Operations will spearhead the development and management of our innovative software solutions.

Role Summary:

We are seeking a results-oriented Vice President of Engineering Operations to guide and enhance our engineering teams during a transformative phase. This role is pivotal in delivering state-of-the-art, large-scale SaaS solutions tailored for the advertising sector, contributing to a broader suite of GroupM products.

Your primary responsibility will be to oversee product delivery commitments while continuously seeking ways to boost the efficiency and effectiveness of engineering teams across various disciplines. You will facilitate cross-departmental collaboration, ensuring that the engineering team is actively involved in strategic discussions and fostering a positive, productive engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the advancement of our suite of optimization products.
  • Formulate strategies and initiatives to enhance both organizational and technical aspects of the department and its offerings.
  • Inspire and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Establish successful partnerships with leaders from other departments within GroupM.
  • Ensure a seamless interface between engineering, product management, and design teams.
  • Mentor and develop leadership capabilities within the organization.
  • Define, measure, and manage key performance indicators for team and product success.
  • Drive high productivity and throughput within engineering processes.
  • Standardize development practices where necessary.
  • Cultivate a desirable and high-performing engineering culture.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in advertising technology, particularly in ad serving, dynamic creative optimization, and programmatic advertising.
  • Demonstrated leadership in guiding teams through significant organizational change and growth.
  • Strong people management philosophy applicable to both managers and engineers.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional engineering teams, including both permanent staff and contractors.
  • Ability to manage a predominantly remote team while valuing in-person collaboration.
  • Comprehensive understanding of business dynamics, balancing cost, speed, and quality in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deep knowledge of software development methodologies, agile practices, and project management principles.
  • Advocate for software architecture and design patterns, with a focus on best practices in software development.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies, scalable architectures, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Experience with functional programming, particularly in Clojure/Script, is a plus.
