About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Mental Health Liaison Practitioner to join our team at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth. As a key member of our Mental Health Liaison Team, you will play a vital role in providing specialist mental health assessments and psychological support to patients with mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for working age adult patients and older people within Queen Alexandra Hospital.
  • Provide effective and efficient psychological support to patients with mental health needs who are temporarily in crisis or have mental health needs as a result of their physical illness or hospitalization.
  • Advise non-psychiatry staff on the outcome of assessments and formulate care plans based on clinical intervention and risk management.
  • Provide time-limited liaison reviews for patients with complex and enduring mental health needs while inpatient at Queen Alexandra Hospital.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency colleagues, patients, and their supporters to provide high-quality care and support.
  • Contribute to the development and quality of clinical practice of liaison work with this client group at local and national levels.
  • Provide mental health education, advice, and training to clinical staff and students at Queen Alexandra Hospital.
