Position Overview

This role presents a unique opportunity to become part of a committed nursing team. The responsibilities encompass both inpatient care and participation in a dynamic Outpatient Dressings Clinic. Peanut Ward serves as a regional referral center for pediatric patients with minor to moderate burn injuries, along with various other trauma cases. The facility is dedicated to delivering outstanding care for children requiring Maxillo-Facial and Ophthalmic interventions. Important Note: Candidates without current NMC registration will not be considered for this position.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of this role include:

  • Providing care for pre-operative and post-operative pediatric patients.
  • Assisting in the preparation of children undergoing plastic or maxillofacial surgery.
  • Delivering care and support to children with burn injuries in the outpatient dressing clinic.
  • Offering support to parents of children undergoing surgical procedures.

This position qualifies for a £1500 New Starter Premium, specifically designed for new hires at QVH who are not currently on the payroll, including bank staff and internal transfers. Individuals who have left QVH within the last 12 months are not eligible for this incentive.

Upon successful appointment and completion of a six-month probationary period, you will be eligible for a two-stage New Starter Premium totaling £1500. The first payment of £500 will be issued upon receipt of your probation paperwork, followed by an additional £1000 on your one-year anniversary with the organization.

Job Responsibilities

Qualifications

Essential:

  • NMC registration as a pediatric nurse.

Desirable:

  • Qualification in plastic surgery or surgical nursing.

Experience

Essential:

  • Experience in caring for pediatric surgical patients.

Desirable:

  • Experience in caring for patients with burns and those undergoing plastics or maxillofacial surgery.

Skills

Essential:

  • Proficiency in IT skills, including Microsoft and other computer systems.
