About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and practical individual to join our Technical Apprenticeship Scheme as an Apprentice Laboratory Technician in the School of Biological Sciences at Queen's University Belfast.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the technical teams in delivering teaching and research activities across the School and Institute.
  • Develop relevant competencies and expertise through in-house training, completion of professional/academic qualifications, and tailored support and mentoring.
  • Work as part of a team to deliver excellent customer service and support field courses, fieldwork activities, and outreach programs.
  • Contribute to the development of a central store for general consumables to support teaching and research.

Requirements:

  • Hold a minimum of 5 GCSE's A*-C (9-4) or equivalent, including Maths, English, and a relevant science subject(s).
  • Proven basic knowledge of regulations and procedures, including H&S requirements.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and interest in the subject of Biology.
  • Ability to work successfully as part of a team and demonstrate a methodical and logical approach to tasks.
