Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Prosthetist to join our specialist team at Blatchford. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing and promoting a high standard of prosthetic care and treatment across a range of amputation levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prosthetic Care Provision: Assessing, measuring, casting, fitting, delivering, supplying, reviewing, and adjusting prosthesis as required across a range of amputation levels.
  • Model Creation: Casting and rectifying models using both traditional methods and CADCAM where appropriate.
  • Patient Management: Managing patient expectations, ensuring needs are respected and that patients are kept informed throughout the process.
  • Team Collaboration: Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the most appropriate and effective treatment for patients.
  • Training and Development: Providing training, mentorship, and support to placement students, graduates, and less experienced members of the team.
  • Clinical Audit and Research: Identifying and undertaking clinical audit and/or research projects, in conjunction with the Service Manager and clinical leads.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Qualified in Prosthetics/Orthotics.
  • Registration: HCPC registration.
  • Professional Membership: Member of BAPO/ISPO (desirable).
  • Experience: Experience in a wide range of prosthetic provision.
  • Skills: Experience of gait analysis/pressure measurement systems, able to prioritize and manage workload, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and good judgment and decision-making skills.
