About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Management Specialist to join our team at Turner & Townsend Group. As a key member of our cost management team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality cost management services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage commissions of varying sizes, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of cost management services.
  • Assist in feasibility studies, writing procurement reports, and estimating and cost planning.
  • Produce and present cost plans, utilizing relevant cost management tools and services.
  • Tender and procure, managing the pre-qualification stage, producing tender lists, and compiling contractual documents.
  • Conduct contract administration, dealing with post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
  • Take personal responsibility for making cost checks and carrying out valuations on larger projects.
  • Produce monthly post-contract cost reports and present them to clients.
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts.
  • Interface with clients, project managers, and other consultants at all project stages.
  • Collaborate with our project management team during project delivery.
  • Lead a cost management team, ensuring they deliver on all accountabilities.
  • Utilize our digital cost management tools and services, including The Hive, Benchmarking App, CostX, Market Rates App, eTender Platform, and Cost Control App.
  • Implement our Embodied Carbon Calculator to produce carbon footprint reports.
  • Support the execution of our NewLeaf strategy.
  • Manage internal fees, job costing, and resourcing requirements.
Marketing and Business Development
  • Identify opportunities to develop new business with existing clients and report to the appropriate line manager.
  • Develop and maintain a professional network of peers and potential clients.
  • Assist in the production of bid documentation.
  • Identify ways to improve cost management procedures, templates, and products.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, including external groups, networking, and CPD events.
Internal Management Accountabilities
  • Knowledge management: Ensure key information and learning are input into our internal database.
  • Process improvement: Identify ways to improve internal systems and processes.
  • Support, develop, and mentor junior staff members.
Reporting and Performance Indicators

Cost Managers will be assessed on the extent to which:

  • Commissions are managed to the right quality standards and completed efficiently and on time.
  • Service delivery on commissions is in line with the conditions of appointment.
  • Good relationships are developed with clients and members of the cross-functional team.
  • They work as an effective member of the cost management team.
  • Opportunities are identified to develop new business with existing clients.
  • Margin levels are kept track of on all commissions.
  • Key information and data are effectively cascaded and retained.
Requirements
  • Ability to work with autonomy.
  • Self-motivated individual who can take initiative and deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Working towards or recently achieved Chartered Status.
  • Confident and professional manner.
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize own workload.
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships across the business.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
Qualifications
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality cost management / quantity surveying services across the full project lifecycle.
  • Degree or HNC level qualification.
  • Professionally qualified (RICS or similar).
