Position Overview
A position has become available for a Maintenance Plumbing Specialist within the Operations and Maintenance Division at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This role involves being part of a multi-skilled team responsible for both reactive and planned maintenance across various hospital facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in on-call duties within the plumbing team to address emergency repairs outside of standard working hours, demonstrating increased responsibility with minimal supervision.
- Conduct testing and repairs on all components of hot and cold water systems, including piping, storage tanks, and blending valves.
- Perform regular chlorination of water storage tanks, ensuring that free residual chlorine levels are safe before reintroducing tanks into service, along with temperature checks and biological sample collection.
- Service and repair a variety of sanitary fixtures, such as taps, cisterns, showers, baths, and urinals.
- Install and maintain electric water heaters and storage heaters, including troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
- Engage in maintenance activities on steam boilers and pressure systems.
- Service and repair all gas appliances, including boilers and associated piping, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining necessary documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

- Advanced Craft / City & Guilds Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent, obtained through a recognized apprenticeship.
