A position has become available for a Maintenance Plumbing Specialist within the Operations and Maintenance Division at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This role involves being part of a multi-skilled team responsible for both reactive and planned maintenance across various hospital facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in on-call duties within the plumbing team to address emergency repairs outside of standard working hours, demonstrating increased responsibility with minimal supervision.
  • Conduct testing and repairs on all components of hot and cold water systems, including piping, storage tanks, and blending valves.
  • Perform regular chlorination of water storage tanks, ensuring that free residual chlorine levels are safe before reintroducing tanks into service, along with temperature checks and biological sample collection.
  • Service and repair a variety of sanitary fixtures, such as taps, cisterns, showers, baths, and urinals.
  • Install and maintain electric water heaters and storage heaters, including troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
  • Engage in maintenance activities on steam boilers and pressure systems.
  • Service and repair all gas appliances, including boilers and associated piping, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining necessary documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Advanced Craft / City & Guilds Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent, obtained through a recognized apprenticeship.

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Engineering or Building, enabling multi-skilled work.
