Operations Director

Menzies Distribution is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our parcel sortation hub in Chester. The successful candidate will be responsible for maximising the performance of our InPost operations, providing leadership, motivation, and training and development of the workforce.
Key Responsibilities:- Accountable for the daily management and supervision of the whole despatch operation.
- Manage, support and develop the operational team.
- Ensure the performance of the operation exceeds customer expectations in line with recognised contract KPI's.
- Liaise, support and develop effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Ensure operational compliance including Health & Safety.
- Assist the Regional Manager and General Manager in ensuring all operational performance standards are met.
- Manage the team, undertaking regular reviews, plan and arrange for the training and development of operational staff.
- Ensure and monitor effective use of driver and vehicle resources.
- Establish and develop working relationships with the customer.
- Compile and analyse operational and financial performance data to identify service efficiencies and improvement around, MPG, Tachos, fuel and damage.
- Coordinate site housekeeping/maintenance to ensure Health & Safety requirements are upheld.
- MUST have extensive experience in the management of the mechanical parcel sortation and processes operation.
- Experience with methods of continuous improvement and delivering process improvements.
- Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety.
- Ability to manage, motivate and develop people, leading by example.
- Budget management.
- KPI development and measurement.
- Ability to plan and organise effectively to meet deadlines.
- Ability to use and understand computerised systems including TMS and WMS systems.
- High level of accuracy and numeracy, keen eye for detail.
