Corporate Accountant (Maternity Leave Contract - 6 Months)

Northern Adelaide Waste Management Authority (NAWMA) is a regional subsidiary formed under the Local Government Act (SA) 1999 to provide best practice waste management and resource recovery services to its three (3) Constituent Councils; Additionally, it also provides these services to several regional SA Councils.

NAWMA seeks an experienced Corporate Accountant to join its close-knit Finance team in a full-time role, initially offered as a maternity leave contract for six (6) months with possible extension after that. Flexible working arrangements will be considered and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

The following key responsibilities will keep you engaged and challenged in this role:

  • Ensuring legislative compliance and maintaining a strong understanding of financial regulations.
  • Developing and implementing financial planning and analysis strategies to drive business growth.
  • Managing treasury operations, including cash flow management and investment strategies.
  • Providing expert taxation, audit, and data analysis services to support business decision-making.
  • Maintaining banking and business systems, ensuring seamless financial operations.
  • Building strong business partnerships and collaborating with stakeholders to drive financial performance.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or Business-related disciplines.
  • Experience in using corporate financial systems and software.
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls and financial management principles.
  • Experience in preparing budgets, long-term financial plans, and financial statements.
  • Experience in a local government or waste management industry environment.
  • Membership of a recognized Australian professional accounting body (CPA, CA, or IPA).
