Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Class 2 Driver to join our team for the Winter Services Gritting Season. As a Gritting Vehicle Operator, you will be responsible for driving LGV Cat C / Class 2 vehicles to spread salt and brine on the road network of the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive gritting vehicles to spread salt and brine on the road network
  • Load vehicles with road salt using a loading shovel
  • Clean and maintain vehicles
  • Participate in a standby rota, alternating between 2 weeks on and 1 week off

Standby Rota:

Our standby rota operates on a 2 weeks on, 1 week off schedule. You will be required to work the following shifts:

  • Shift 1: 16:00 to 00:00
  • Shift 2: 00:00 to 08:00
  • Shift 3: Rest

Weekend Standby Rota:

Our weekend standby rota operates on a 2 weeks on, 1 week off schedule. You will be required to work the following shifts:

  • Shift 1: 12:00 to 00:00
  • Shift 2: 00:00 to 12:00
  • Shift 3: Rest

Pay and Benefits:

You will receive:

  • £16.50 per day for Monday to Friday standby shifts
  • £24.69 per day for Saturday and Sunday standby shifts
  • £108.52 for a 4.5 hour call out
  • £130.23 for a 6 hour call out

Requirements:

  • LGV Cat C (HGV Class 2) licence
  • Digital Tachograph Card
  • Full driver CPC
  • No more than 6 points on your licence
  • No DD/DR endorsements
