Clinical Nurse Specialist, Oncology

Position Overview:
- Prioritizes tasks, delivers clinical knowledge and leadership for care planning, and organizes and executes healthcare treatments and interventions while appropriately assigning and delegating responsibilities to other healthcare team members.
- Facilitates active participation of the client/family unit in the creation, execution, and continuous adjustment of the care plan, encompassing both long-term and short-term objectives.
- Develops a therapeutic rapport utilizing effective interpersonal and interviewing skills, ensuring client autonomy and choice in decision-making and care planning.
- Coordinates and discusses referral details with the client/family unit and other healthcare professionals, initiating referrals to suitable healthcare/community organizations in collaboration.
- Engages with interdisciplinary team members and takes part in rounds and/or patient care discussions to guarantee effective, consistent, and comprehensive care planning and delivery.
Scheduled shifts will be **DAYS**; rotating from 08:00 to 16:00 hours.
About the Unit:
Kootenay Lake Hospital: This facility is a Level 1 Community Hospital providing services such as surgical, inpatient, and emergency care. The medical unit at Kootenay Lake Hospital is a bustling medical floor within a small rural hospital. It is equipped for 27 beds and can accommodate up to 3 overflow patients. Registered Nurses work 12-hour shifts, 24 hours a day.
Each team consists of 1 RN and 1 LPN for 8-10 patients during the day shift, and 3 RNs along with 1 LPN during the night shift.
