About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Ocean Export Specialist to join our team at Silver Arrow Recruitment. As an Ocean Export Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth movement of freight from our clients to their destinations around the world.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Build Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and agents to ensure a high level of customer service is provided.
  • Freight Management: Ensure that all freight is moved on time and that all necessary documentation is in place.
  • Haulage Arrangements: Arrange for the transportation of freight with shipping lines and other carriers.
  • Invoice and Dispatch: Ensure that all freight is invoiced and checked prior to dispatch.
  • Document Management: Ensure that all relevant documents are available as required.
  • Query Resolution: Resolve and action customer queries and requests quickly and efficiently.
  • Communication: Communicate with overseas agents, customers, and suppliers in a clear and precise manner.
  • System Usage: Use customer ERP and SAP systems as required.
  • Training and Development: Take ownership of your own training and development to continuously improve and develop your skills.
Requirements
  • Hazardous Goods Experience: Must have experience with hazardous goods.
  • Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills to provide a professional image to customers and suppliers.
  • Pressure Management: The capacity to work in a high-pressure environment while remaining calm under pressure.
  • Instruction and Prioritization: The ability to instruct a global network of agents, suppliers, shipping lines, and hauliers, and to prioritize a large number of tasks to ensure accuracy and deliver results with great attention to detail and a high sense of urgency.
  • Problem-Solving: A positive attitude and good problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply lessons learned.
  • Commercial Awareness: Be commercially aware and able to grow repeat business and develop new opportunities.
  • Drive and Motivation: The drive to succeed and a desire to make a contribution to the business.
General Skills
  • Industry Knowledge: Industry and operational knowledge of ocean freight.
  • Attention to Detail: An understanding of why attention to detail matters and the commercial impact this has.
  • Pressure Management: Able to cope and accustomed to working under pressure to meet fixed deadlines.
  • Numerical and Commercial Skills: Strong numerical and commercial skills.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Computer Skills: Excellent usage of computer/operating system (Microsoft Windows) along with other office applications (Microsoft Office) (Cargowise - preferable).
