Position Overview

We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Husbandry Technician to become part of our scientific team at our facility. Our mission focuses on delivering cutting-edge cell biology and pharmacology support to a variety of international pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, aimed at advancing therapies in critical areas such as immune oncology, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, and infectious diseases.

Our primary work involves early-stage drug discovery projects that assess the viability of new therapies and treatments for progression to clinical trials. At Charles River, we uphold the highest scientific standards and adhere to stringent ethical regulations in all our research endeavors.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role within a dynamic and adaptable team, conducting studies across a broad spectrum of established in vivo disease models and innovating new methodologies to model human diseases in vivo. We are committed to continuous improvement, seeking alternative strategies to the use of animal models while refining our existing approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

• Delivering exceptional daily animal care, prioritizing animal welfare throughout all processes.

• Maintaining precise records of animal health, inventory, equipment, and environmental conditions, promptly addressing any issues with the appropriate team member.

• Ensuring the availability of essential materials, enrichment items, supplies, and general upkeep of the animal unit.

• Assisting colleagues by executing various procedures, preparing equipment, and supplying materials for studies.

• Collaborating closely with Senior Technicians, Scientists, and Managers on projects to ensure robust support for models.

• Complying with all health and safety protocols and reporting any quality concerns immediately.

• Willingness to work occasional weekends and outside of standard working hours (overtime and time-off-in-lieu policies apply).

Qualifications:

• Relevant educational background (Biological Sciences, Animal Welfare, or similar).

• Strong attention to detail coupled with effective communication skills.

• A genuine passion for animal care and welfare.

• Experience working with rodents or small animals is advantageous.

• Candidates must be able to commute to the facility daily.
