Role Overview:
The LAS ST3 in Emergency Medicine plays a crucial role in collaborating with acute medical professionals to implement innovative strategies aimed at achieving optimal patient outcomes. Recently, a new Same Day Emergency Care service has been established, gaining national recognition for its excellence.

Teaching Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will engage in the education of both undergraduate and postgraduate students affiliated with the University of Buckingham. Additionally, support for colleagues involved in these educational activities will be expected as part of the designated job plan.

Key Duties:
The LAS ST3 doctor will function at a middle-grade level within the department, with primary responsibilities including:

  • Initial diagnosis and resuscitation of patients.
  • Comprehensive clinical management of all individuals presenting to the A&E Department.
  • Facilitating appropriate follow-up, referrals for admission, transfers, or discharges to GP care.
  • Liaising with community colleagues, such as GPs, Health Visitors, and District Nurses, to ensure continuity of care.

Teaching Opportunities:
There is a chance to participate in simulation teaching, which includes bimonthly sessions for SHOs and middle-grade doctors, along with multidisciplinary teaching involving other specialties.

Supervision:
While working on the shop floor, it is anticipated that you will oversee junior doctors in the department, providing guidance and reviewing their patients as necessary.
