About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior/Principal Town Planner to join our dynamic Local Plan Promotion team at Carrington West. In this role, you will provide accurate and professional planning advice and services on strategic planning policy matters.

You will engage in business development activities and play an active role in expanding our portfolio of projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Promoting sites through the Local Plan system, including representations, Hearing Statements, and Advocacy Reports.
  • Researching and designing planning policies to guide development.
  • Performing statistical analysis and research, including socio-economic data to support site promotion.
  • Conducting planning appraisals to establish the development potential of sites.
  • Producing high-quality reports with clear recommendations.
  • Communicating effectively with all stakeholders involved in the planning process.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Chartered membership with the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
  • Proven planning experience within a consultancy or local authority environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of the planning process, particularly Local Plans and Planning Policy.
  • Strong analytical, numeracy, and report writing skills, including experience with Local Plan representations and Hearing Statements.
  • Confidence and ability to lead project teams and engage with senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Commercial awareness and business development acumen.
  • Ability to manage workload, budgets, and coordinate projects alongside colleagues and sub-consultants.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
