About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Scientist to lead the Proteins section of our laboratory and play a major role in our department's Quality Management System.

The successful candidate will be expected to have a strong background in Clinical Biochemistry and a thorough knowledge of human biochemistry and chemistry, including metabolic processes, physiology, pharmacology, and drug interference.

They will also be responsible for method development, protocol development, and clinical liaison, including 'duty' biochemist duties.

The appointee will work closely with IT as a data analyst and contribute to medical teaching and training for trainee clinical scientists and biomedical scientists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Proteins section of the laboratory
  • Play a major role in the department's Quality Management System
  • Develop and implement new methods and protocols
  • Provide clinical liaison and 'duty' biochemist services
  • Work closely with IT as a data analyst
  • Contribute to medical teaching and training

Requirements
  • First Degree or assessed equivalent of knowledge and expertise
  • Master's Degree or assessed equivalent level of knowledge and expertise in Clinical Biochemistry
  • Fellow of Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) as required for Medical Consultant
  • Registration as a clinical scientist with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
