BAM Construct is seeking a Senior Planner to join our construction division in the Central region.

While our regional office is located in Solihull, this role will require travel to various project sites and offices within the area.

Your Responsibilities


• Develop design, procurement, and construction schedules utilizing Elecosoft Powerproject for pre-qualifications, tenders, and ongoing projects.

• Determine and select suitable methodologies and sequences for project execution.

• Assess sites and surrounding environments to devise effective logistics solutions and resource allocations.

• Employ specialized planning software, including Synchro or similar tools.

• Create logistics plans and phasing diagrams, with the ability to model in 3D being advantageous but not mandatory.

• Draft method statements.

• Schedule labor, select major equipment, and prepare access equipment plans, including scaffold schedules and tower crane utilization.

• Participate in and present at client meetings.

• Prepare detailed working schedules.

• Coordinate subcontractor trade schedules.

• Monitor progress throughout the pre-construction and construction phases, comparing it with the planned schedule.

• Report findings and propose solutions to address delays.

• Document relevant events for potential claims.

• Utilize graphical and scheduling media to illustrate progress, event impacts, and forecasts.

• Collaborate with and support the Project Team throughout the process, adjusting project plans as needed.

• Provide guidance on the development of specific working systems.

• Prepare project feedback and activity reports.

• Contribute to the enhancement of the company's planning processes and procedures.

• Coordinate with trade contractors' schedules on-site.

• Mentor junior members of the planning team.

• Facilitate planning awareness and appreciation among site teams.

Candidate Profile


• Well-trained and knowledgeable in Health and Safety standards (e.g., CSCS, SMSTS).

• A proactive, energetic, and confident individual with relevant experience in a similar capacity.

• Proven experience in contract and tender planning, with the ability to lead project scheduling and time management effectively.

• Background in the construction sector with a solid understanding of high-quality finishes and M&E interfaces across various market sectors.

• Familiarity with tenders and contracts governed by JCT and NEC forms.

• Knowledge of best practices in planning.

• Ideally, a degree holder or at least HNC/HND qualified.

• Proficient in Powerproject, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word; experience with SketchUp and Synchro is a plus.

• Understanding of MS Project and Primavera P6 is preferred but not essential.

• Knowledge and experience in 3D/4D modeling is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in both team settings and independently.

• Solid understanding of construction techniques, sequencing, and methodologies.
