An exciting opportunity has emerged for a motivated and passionate individual to join our team.
The Bowel Cancer Screening Centre is responsible for overseeing the screening initiative for eligible individuals within a comprehensive two-year cycle, serving a diverse population.
As a Bowel Cancer Screening Specialist, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the effective implementation of the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for participants who have received a positive screening result, offering expert guidance, support, and continuity throughout the screening journey.
- Evaluate patients' readiness for colonoscopy, attend procedures, manage the results communication process, and refer to the multidisciplinary team as necessary.
- Provide essential information, emotional support, and advice to patients undergoing bowel cancer screening and their families or caregivers.
- Coordinate and deliver care from the screening centre to meet the needs of individuals arising from the screening initiative.
- Act as an advocate for patients, assisting them in navigating the screening process and making informed decisions at every stage.
- Serve as a resource, offering specialized support and advice to other healthcare professionals regarding the screening protocol.
- Collaborate effectively with the screening hub, health promotion services, and multidisciplinary colorectal teams.
About Our Organization
The Bowel Cancer Screening Centre operates under the Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, with multiple screening locations. The role requires flexibility to work across various sites as needed.
The Centre is dedicated to delivering the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme to a wide geographical area.
