Lead Microbiologist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Microbiologist to join our team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our clinical microbiology department, you will play a crucial role in providing a comprehensive and efficient clinical microbiology and infection service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide a 24-hour telephone on-call clinical and infection control advisory service
• Work collaboratively with consultant colleagues to provide a comprehensive clinical microbiology and infection service
• Develop and implement effective infection control strategies to minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections
• Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and policies related to microbiology and infection control
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest standards of patient care

Requirements:

• Postgraduate qualification in microbiology or a related field
• Extensive experience in clinical microbiology and infection control
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Knowledge of relevant clinical guidelines and policies
