Cpl Life Sciences is seeking an experienced Data Centre Electrical Engineer to join our team in the Greater London Area.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our data centre's electrical systems, including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, and power distribution equipment. This is a 5-month contract position, working 12-hour rotating day/night shifts, with flexibility to travel between sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the operation and management of routine and emergency services on critical systems, including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, and power distribution equipment.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to improve energy efficiency in the data centre.
  • Project manage operational aspects of the data centre, including asset and inventory management.
  • Work closely with the Data Centre Engineering Operations (DCEO) Team to ensure 100% availability and first-class customer service.
  • Supervise corrective and preventative maintenance of critical infrastructure, vendor management, and metric reporting.
  • Assist in the design and build of new data halls and data centres.
  • On-site management of sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring all work performed is in accordance with safety practices.
  • Review vendor RAMS and MOPs to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
Requirements
  • 4+ years of work experience in a critical operations environment.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Good understanding of data centre critical infrastructure, including diesel generators, chillers, cooling towers, CHW systems, air handling units, UPS, HV/LV electrical distribution systems, fire detection and suppression systems.
  • 6+ years of data centre engineering/operations experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering.
  • Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout, as well as low-voltage (copper/fibre) cabling.
