The Store Operations Manager will lead and direct the management team within the Delivery Unit, ensuring the efficient operation of stores and the provision of plant and materials to support work activities.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Lead and direct the stores management team to achieve key performance measures.
  • Manage the development and engagement of the team and individuals, promoting a culture of safety and competence.
  • Oversee the management of staff safety and competence arrangements, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Logistics Coordinator to establish efficient quantities of plant and materials, optimizing inventory levels and reducing waste.
  • Operate an efficient goods receipt and returns process, maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring timely replenishment of stock.
  • Conduct regular stock-taking checks and assist with stock audits, monitoring and amending stock profiles and levels as demand requires.
  • Operate out-based Minor Stocking Points, ensuring the safe and efficient storage and retrieval of plant and materials.
  • Maintain safe and tidy stores areas, adhering to Network Rail's health and safety standards.
  • Prepare and make available plant and materials to delivery unit teams, ensuring they have the necessary resources to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Collaborate with technical support units to comply with equipment calibration requirements, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of plant and equipment.
  • Quarantine small plant, tools, and equipment out of test date, and check small plant, tools, and equipment for fitness for purpose, arranging replacement as necessary.

**Requirements:**

  • Knowledge of plant and tools specification, including relevant standards and procedures.
  • Practical competence in loading and lifting operations and equipment, with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Good communication and organization skills, with the ability to work effectively with teams and stakeholders.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of operational railway, maintenance delivery processes, and techniques.
