Maintenance Engineer Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Peterborough, UK. As a key member of our Engineering team, you will play a vital role in the development of our condiments manufacturing facility.

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain plant and equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Conduct regular assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Liaise with production teams to ensure timely start-up of plant and equipment.
  • Prepare estimates and requisitions for equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Manage small projects and assist with major projects to improve plant and equipment performance.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety legislation, including HACCP, and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Work with production and quality teams to improve operating practices and enhance product quality and customer service.
  • Coordinate activities with outside engineers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Provide flexible support for other engineering functions as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Working experience in the food or consumer products industry, with a good track record of acquiring engineering skills and continuous learning.
  • A solid grounding in food handling safe practices.
  • PC literate, with experience of MS Word, Lotus Notes, and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible attitude towards engineering duties.
