Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled School Psychological Examiner to join our team at Fox C-6 School District. As a key member of our special education department, you will play a critical role in coordinating the special education process from screening through evaluation to ensure appropriate identification of students with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate screening in all 7 areas of school functioning, including health, vision, hearing, speech/language, intellectual/cognitive, academic achievement, and social/emotional development.
- Complete referral process and forms.
- Assist team in determination of need for an evaluation, with subsequent development of evaluation plan or notice of action refused, as appropriate.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluation, monitor completion of evaluations process, chair diagnostic staffing meeting regarding results.
- Conduct conferences with parents to review results of the evaluation and explain next steps in the special education process.
- Disseminate evaluations to appropriate staff within the building and/or district.
- Monitor evaluations and student files to ensure compliance with time lines related to special education evaluations and IEP development.
- Monitor special education files and inform staff of any needed documentation.
- Coordinate with counselor(s) regarding transfer of special education students in and out of the district.
- Serve as IEP team member, when appropriate.
- Complete year-end reports to the Director of Special Education regarding referrals, evaluations, and special education data.
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings with the Director of Special Education.
- Remain informed regarding changes in the Special Education Program Review Standards (MSIP), as well as other issues and trends in the field.
- Provide information to building staff regarding special education evaluations and processes.
- Order necessary testing materials and supplies, maintain accurate inventory of such equipment.
- Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Provide for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, district provided professional development, and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal and/or Director of Special Services.
Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria in order to qualify for this position:
- School Psychological Examiner certification by the State Board of Education.
- School Psychologist with a specialist degree from an accredited college or university.
