Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled School Psychological Examiner to join our team at Fox C-6 School District. As a key member of our special education department, you will play a critical role in coordinating the special education process from screening through evaluation to ensure appropriate identification of students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate screening in all 7 areas of school functioning, including health, vision, hearing, speech/language, intellectual/cognitive, academic achievement, and social/emotional development.
  2. Complete referral process and forms.
  3. Assist team in determination of need for an evaluation, with subsequent development of evaluation plan or notice of action refused, as appropriate.
  4. Conduct diagnostic evaluation, monitor completion of evaluations process, chair diagnostic staffing meeting regarding results.
  5. Conduct conferences with parents to review results of the evaluation and explain next steps in the special education process.
  6. Disseminate evaluations to appropriate staff within the building and/or district.
  7. Monitor evaluations and student files to ensure compliance with time lines related to special education evaluations and IEP development.
  8. Monitor special education files and inform staff of any needed documentation.
  9. Coordinate with counselor(s) regarding transfer of special education students in and out of the district.
  10. Serve as IEP team member, when appropriate.
  11. Complete year-end reports to the Director of Special Education regarding referrals, evaluations, and special education data.
  12. Attend regularly scheduled meetings with the Director of Special Education.
  13. Remain informed regarding changes in the Special Education Program Review Standards (MSIP), as well as other issues and trends in the field.
  14. Provide information to building staff regarding special education evaluations and processes.
  15. Order necessary testing materials and supplies, maintain accurate inventory of such equipment.
  16. Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  17. Provide for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, district provided professional development, and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning.
  18. Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal and/or Director of Special Services.
Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria in order to qualify for this position:

  • School Psychological Examiner certification by the State Board of Education.
  • School Psychologist with a specialist degree from an accredited college or university.
