Transport Operator

At Gregory Distribution, we are currently looking for a Transport Operator to join our dynamic logistics team. This role will encompass various aspects of transport administration and the coordination of daily operations within a bustling contract environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Transport Manager in leading and inspiring the transport team to ensure optimal utilization of staff and resources, achieving high performance in contract efficiency, profitability, and customer service.
  • Plan and organize transport operations, managing transitions between peak and off-peak periods effectively.
  • Provide guidance on daily transport matters, including driver dispatch and monitoring ongoing tasks.
  • Collaborate closely with clients to ensure seamless operational flow.
  • Oversee driver management and debriefing processes.
  • Maximize resource utilization by effectively planning and deploying assets.
  • Deliver regular updates to the Transport Manager regarding customer-related issues and operational insights, making recommendations as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations through monitoring and auditing.
  • Address inquiries through various communication channels.
  • Assist in generating KPIs and daily performance metrics.
  • Support compliance planning in accordance with company policies.
  • Provide direct assistance during breakdowns.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues and contribute to a supportive team environment.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in transport administration within the logistics sector.
  • Familiarity with Manpack traffic systems is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills across all levels.
  • Comprehensive geographical knowledge of the UK.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities and adeptness at prioritizing tasks.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to meet daily deadlines.
  • Capable of working collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
