Teaching Assistant - SEND

Tradewind is seeking a dedicated and qualified Teaching Assistant to join an outstanding Primary School in Oldham. This full-time position will initially be on supply through Tradewind, with the potential for a long-term role.

About the Role

The successful candidate will primarily focus on supporting SEN students through one-on-one assistance, small group sessions, and intervention. Ideally, the candidate will hold a Level 3 NVQ qualification or possess recent experience in a similar role within a UK Primary School setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and group assistance to pupils with special educational needs
  • Support students aged 4-11 in a mainstream secondary school setting
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized support plans
  • Assist with lesson planning and preparation, as needed
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment
Requirements
  • Level 2, 3, or 4 qualification in a relevant field (e.g., education, child development)
  • Recent experience working with children with special educational needs
  • Strong organizational skills, enthusiasm, and a proactive attitude
  • Commitment to supporting children with mild learning difficulties
  • Up-to-date child workforce enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to apply)
