Are you ready to take on a critical role in the integration of renewable energy projects into the electrical grid? Leap29 is seeking a skilled professional for the position of Energy Grid Integration Engineer, who will report directly to the Head of Connections. This role is essential for ensuring the seamless incorporation of our energy initiatives, utilizing your analytical, communication, and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and determine grid capacity for energy storage, demand, and generation projects throughout the UK.
- Engage with grid operators, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to ensure adherence to grid connection standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with internal departments—engineering, project management, and finance—to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of grid connections.
- Assist in the negotiation of grid connection agreements and resolve any associated challenges.
- Provide regular updates to the Head of Connections and contribute to the overall project development team on electrical engineering and grid-related tasks.
- Support the execution of feasibility studies and technical assessments for various grid connection alternatives.
- Monitor and report on the status and effectiveness of grid connections.
- Facilitate the preparation, submission, and management of grid connection applications throughout the approval process.
- Stay informed about changing regulations and technological advancements related to grid connections and energy project development.
- Participate in industry events and conferences to foster and expand relationships with key partners, including DNOs, IDNOs, TNOs, ICPs, and other relevant technology stakeholders.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in energy project development, particularly within the grid connection and pre-construction phases.
- Proven ability to assess grid capacity, prepare technical documentation, and successfully submit grid applications.
- Proactive in managing individual projects and taking responsibility for their outcomes.
- Skilled in building and maintaining relationships with DNOs, TNOs, ICPs, EPCs, and other external advisors.
- Strong understanding of distribution and transmission grid systems and their significance in energy project development.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with grid connection regulations and energy markets is a plus.
- A degree in engineering, preferably electrical, though other disciplines are also considered.
- A valid UK driving licence is required.
- Proficient in AutoCAD for creating electrical single-line diagrams and related technical documents.
- Competent in using Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
