Position Overview
Gherson LLP is on the lookout for a dedicated White Collar Crime and Regulatory Solicitor, ideally with a minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience, to enhance our growing White Collar Crime Team. This specialized team handles intricate and high-stakes cases involving Extradition, Mutual Legal Assistance, Interpol, Criminal Litigation, and Regulatory Investigations, among others.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will collaborate effectively with seasoned professionals across various teams within the firm. We seek a solicitor who is not only experienced but also possesses the confidence to tackle challenging and demanding cases, with the backing of our firm's expertise and that of Counsel.
Experience in compliance and anti-money laundering is highly desirable, as this role involves supporting the firm with all compliance and regulatory obligations, as well as mentoring junior team members. Strong commercial insight and business acumen are essential for this aspect of the position.
Qualifications
We invite applications from candidates who can demonstrate the following:
- A qualified solicitor in England and Wales with 2-5 years of experience in extradition or criminal litigation law;
- Proven supervisory experience managing a team of trainee solicitors and paralegals;
- Successful track record in business development initiatives.
Preferred Experience
The ideal candidate will also have exposure to some of the following:
- In-depth knowledge and demonstrable interest in criminal litigation, particularly in financial crime, asset forfeiture, and regulatory matters (experience with prosecuting authorities or regulatory agencies is a plus);
- Practical experience in criminal litigation, with a focus on financial crime and POCA (interest in the regulation of cryptoassets and blockchain technology is advantageous);
- Experience working with private clients;
- Exceptional client management and care skills, coupled with strong commercial acumen and experience in establishing new client relationships;
- A proactive professional demeanor;
- Excellent analytical and organizational capabilities;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proven drafting proficiency;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team;
- Flexibility to assist and cover other roles and responsibilities as needed;
- Capacity to perform accurately under pressure;
- Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with willingness to work overtime and weekends when necessary;
- Comprehensive understanding of all regulatory and compliance requirements.
The candidate must exhibit outstanding drafting skills and a genuine commitment to achieving optimal outcomes in challenging situations.
