Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the organization of the yard, vehicle flow, and overall site cleanliness.
  • Ensure that the loading and unloading of vehicles, as well as their relocation, comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Guarantee that all team members complete their assignments to the required standards within designated timeframes.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to clients and suppliers, addressing any issues or concerns effectively.
  • Uphold Health & Safety protocols and company policies to maintain a secure and efficient work environment.
  • Manage site security, maintenance, and alarm systems.
  • Provide guidance to staff and collaborate with other departments as necessary.
  • Supervise daily employee activities, including managing absences, training new hires, and ensuring all personnel have the necessary safety equipment.
  • Respond to site emergencies and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Order necessary supplies and approve requests for materials.
  • Support ongoing recruitment and development of yard personnel.
  • Collaborate with environmental agencies to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Identify training requirements and arrange relevant courses, including forklift training.
  • Manage financial transactions related to site operations.
  • Complete reports for incidents and accidents.
  • Ensure availability of personal protective equipment.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and maintain a site diary.
  • Assist the team in maintaining ISO27001 certification.

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to enhance team performance.
  • Valid Driving License.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Forklift truck license for rough terrain.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Qualifications in Mechanical, Metal Recycling, or vehicle maintenance are advantageous.
