As a Senior Planner, you will play a crucial role within the Planning & Projects department, focusing on securing local planning permissions and advocating for significant strategic sites through the Local Plan process and planning applications.
Your role will often see you as the Lead Planner for specific sites, working closely with a Senior Project Manager or Planning Director as the Project Lead.
You will be tasked with developing and executing planning strategies for various sites, requiring both short-term and long-term strategic thinking.Additionally, you will have the responsibility of mentoring junior planners, fostering their professional growth through effective delegation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and approve reports to support planning applications, appeals, and policy presentations.
- Assist Planning Directors, Managers, and Senior Project Managers with broader planning matters as needed.
- Review and provide feedback on reports from external consultants, ensuring quality and accuracy.- Conduct research to inform strategies for site promotion, allocation, and planning applications.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and representations to facilitate site promotion and support planning submissions.
- Engage with prospective landowners and agents to identify and secure new sites for development.
- Establish and implement planning and engagement strategies for sites.- Conduct site visits and meetings with landowners, agents, and local authority representatives.
- Manage workload effectively, ensuring adherence to deadlines through appropriate task delegation.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Planning or a related field, with eligibility for RTPI Membership.
- Extensive experience in planning, either in a consultancy or local authority setting.
- Proven track record in negotiating Section 106 agreements.
- Experience in promoting sites through the Local Plan and planning application processes.
- Significant experience in preparing reports for planning applications and Local Plan allocations.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research projects that support project delivery.Benefits:
