About the Role

NRL is seeking experienced Senior & Principal level Structural Engineers to join our Nuclear Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and managing structural engineering projects throughout their lifecycle, ensuring compliance with technical requirements, regulatory standards, and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Lead and manage structural engineering projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Design and Analysis: Conduct detailed structural analysis and design, including seismic and stress analysis, to ensure robust engineering solutions.
  • Quality Assurance: Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and calculations to uphold accuracy and adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to integrate structural engineering solutions within overall project requirements.
  • Communication: Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and recommendations to clients and senior management.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, codes, and standards pertinent to nuclear structural engineering.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices, methodologies, and processes within the organisation.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
  • Professional Qualification: Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with membership in MICE or MIStructE.
Desirable Skills
  • Specialised Expertise: Demonstrable expertise in one or more specialised areas relevant to the engineering discipline, with a proven track record of applying specialist knowledge effectively.
  • Strategic Guidance: Ability to provide strategic guidance informed by extensive project experience across a portfolio, directing and influencing projects and programs.
  • Leadership: Leadership capabilities in a key engineering function, responsible for managing resources and expertise.
  • Nuclear Sector Experience: Experience working in the Nuclear Sector, encompassing both new build and decommissioning projects, in roles requiring professional engineering expertise and judgment.
  • Project Delivery: Engineering experience demonstrating successful project delivery, with roles influencing professional engineers in defining, implementing, and delivering engineering work packages.
  • Seismic and Numerical Modelling: Preferably, proficiency in seismic and numerical modelling, including finite element analysis.
  • Mentorship: Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide technicians, graduates, and near Chartered members of the design team.
  • Design Principles: Solid understanding of design principles and the ability to apply them effectively.
  • Industry Standards: Working knowledge of European and American Standards.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Security Clearance: Ability to meet the security clearance requirements in the UK.
