We are seeking a skilled and confident individual to join our phlebotomy team at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. As a Phlebotomy Specialist, you will play a vital role in the collection of quality blood samples from patients, which is a crucial stage in many medical investigations.
Key Responsibilities- Collect blood samples from patients in a safe and efficient manner.
- Work independently and as part of a team to meet the demands of the phlebotomy service.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals, clinicians, laboratory staff, patients, and their representatives to ensure smooth communication and coordination.
- Handle biological samples that may contain pathogenic micro-organisms, adhering to laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and departmental policies and procedures.
- Support the department in multiple venues, as required.
- Previous experience working in a healthcare environment, preferably in a phlebotomy or laboratory setting.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good manual dexterity and coordination.
- Ability to work accurately and maintain high standards of documentation.
- Ability to put patients at ease and remain calm in an emergency situation.
- Ability to concentrate for long periods.
- Able to work individually and as part of a team.
- A commitment to quality and safety.
- A listening, learning, and leading approach.
