Public Law Solicitor Opportunity

Gemini Recruitment is partnering with a leading law firm to recruit an experienced Public Law Solicitor. The successful candidate will join a highly respected team that has a proven track record of delivering exceptional results in civil liberties and judicial review cases.

The Public Law Department has a strong reputation for its expertise in immigration and asylum challenges, and the team regularly collaborates with other firms on funding and case management issues. As a Public Law Solicitor, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of cases, including unlawful detention, false imprisonment, and challenges to non-appealable decisions.

You will be responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members, managing and supervising Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers, and assisting with the delivery of training and development in the department.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Public Law, with experience in dealing with all Public Law related work. You will have excellent networking and communication skills, with the ability to successfully market the Company and generate new business. A working knowledge of the Legal Aid Guidance for Public Law matters and the ability to service privately funded cases are also essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to other team members
  • Manage and supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers
  • Assist with the delivery of training and development in the department
  • Deal with a range of Public Law work, including unlawful detention, false imprisonment, and challenges to non-appealable decisions
  • Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency
  • Prepare draft documents, including witness statements and processing evidence
  • Attend conferences and court

Requirements:

  • Law Society Immigration Accreditation Level 2
  • Membership of the Law Society
  • Valid Practicing Certificate
  • Strong management skills
  • Excellent networking and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the Legal Aid Guidance for Public Law matters
