As a key member of the commercial team, you will thrive in a dynamic environment. The Assistant Buyer position is designed to support the Senior Buyer in curating an enticing selection of high-value products for our customers.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to launch your buying career in a fast-paced setting. It is a newly established position at Currys aimed at facilitating the introduction of in-demand technologies and products. We seek an individual capable of working autonomously and possessing strong business insight due to the rapid product refresh cycles.

To aid your professional growth, you will have the chance to pursue a Level 4 apprenticeship in Buying & Merchandising, with the opportunity to commence your apprenticeship after three months of joining the team (subject to eligibility).

Role Overview:

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in managing supplier partnerships aligned with the category strategy
  • Selecting and negotiating product assortments and pricing
  • Monitoring competitive offerings to establish market-competitive pricing
  • Analyzing sales performance and suggesting strategies to enhance business outcomes
  • Supporting the Senior Buyer in negotiating product assortments, including cost pricing, additional terms, exclusivity, distribution, and stock availability
  • Pricing the product assortment in accordance with agreed category CPI targets

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a buying function (as an Assistant Buyer or Administrator) with a solid understanding of technical products
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Organizational, analytical, and numerical proficiency with sound judgment
  • Keen commercial awareness and understanding of customer needs
  • Degree in Marketing, Merchandising, Retail, or Business
