About the Role

BAM Nuttall is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Manager to join their team. As a Commercial Manager, you will play a crucial role in the success of our major energy project in the South West.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain effective communication with Business Unit managers, Regional Commercial Managers, project management, and other associated disciplines.
  • Enhance the profile of commercial services and be responsible for staff matters, including staff succession awareness, recruitment, development, attitude, and behavioural issues.
  • Be responsible for all commercial aspects of staff performance and development reviews.
  • Attend and provide input to HSQE meetings, weekly tender review meetings, area management team briefings, and senior commercial forums.
  • Ensure project start-up meetings and close-out meetings are attended by AQS or CM.
  • Ensure that Area Commercial forums are convened and attended by commercial and operational staff at frequent intervals.
  • Assist in drafting and promote usage of business processes.
  • Ensure audits are carried out and feedback is provided to the business.
  • Provide commercial input to contacts with clients and provide commercial advice to the site team in connection with all project issues.
  • Take part in discussions concerning project performance and provide commercial input to project strategy.
  • Provide input to the OP business plan, MTP business plan, and area quarterly and annual results.
  • Ensure the production of monthly cost and value reports, quarterly forecasts, and company tied costs.
  • Obtain cash-flow information and present all reports at director's local reviews.
  • Provide input to dispute identification and management.
  • Be responsible for CF02 tender reviews and contract award vetting.
  • Maintain a complete library of up to date conditions of contract.
  • Produce and negotiate insurance claims with insurer's representatives.
  • Produce, negotiate, and agree design agreements with designers.
  • Agree terms and engage legal and commercial consultants, and monitor their accounts.
  • Maintain contact with supply chain partners through contract vetting and input to contract documentation.
  • Carry out sub-contract document vetting and input to sub-contract documentation.
Requirements
  • Comprehensive experience operating successfully in the Civil Engineering Contracting sector.
  • Demonstrate a successful track record of managing a large commercial team, responsible for major projects or a portfolio of projects.
  • Have operated at Commercial Manager level or above for a period no less than 5 years.
  • Demonstrate excellent collaborative behaviours and understand how to effectively manage/motivate project teams.
  • Affiliated to a Professional Institution such as the RICS, ICES, ICE, or similar (preferred but not essential).
  • Educated to Degree level in a relevant Commercial, Construction, or Project Management qualification (preferred but not essential).
