Human Engineering is a leading provider of innovative solutions for the offshore, ports, and shipping, and oil and gas industries. We are seeking a highly skilled Crane Automation Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of new and innovative projects worldwide.

Job Summary

We are looking for a talented Automation Engineer with expertise in electrical and PLC systems to work on a variety of projects, including offshore crane repairs, refurbishment, operation, and maintenance. The successful candidate will have a strong background in programming Siemens PLCs, drives, and SCADA systems, as well as excellent managerial and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete site surveys onshore, offshore, or overseas to identify technical and operational requirements.
  • Provide technical and fault-finding support for electrical, PLC, and drive systems.
  • Assist in the review of PLC and drive specifications to produce FDS documents.
  • Contribute to the preparation of automation project documentation and certification packages.
  • Assist in the production of maintenance documents and factory acceptance tests.
  • Back up PLCs and drives from existing systems for reverse engineering or upgrading purposes.
  • Design and code electrical and PLC systems for onshore and offshore cranes and lifting equipment.
  • Lead installation projects, liaising between engineers and subcontractors.
  • Perform initial commissioning of projects, including testing and validation.
  • Manage projects, including technical and commercial aspects.
  • Familiarize yourself with client and company HSEQ policies and procedures.
  • Familiarize yourself with client and company safety policies and the safety management system.
  • Plan, organize, and document client work processes to deliver the required standard with minimum risk to personnel, plant, materials, and the environment.
  • Provide clear instructions to company personnel and subcontractors on safe methods of work and communication protocols.
  • Encourage personnel to develop a safety and environmental culture that promotes near miss and accident reporting.
  • Act immediately on any breach of company rules and report to the line manager as necessary.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience of programming Siemens PLCs – Step 5, Step 7 & TIA Portal.
  • Good working knowledge of Siemens Drives – MasterDrives, Micromasters & Sinamics.
  • Knowledge of VFD/VSD drives and their interaction with PLCs.
  • Experience and knowledge of SCADA systems.
  • Strong managerial and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Methodical and dynamic approach.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Onshore or offshore crane and lifting experience preferred.
  • Good understanding of HSEQ requirements offshore.
  • Sound IT skills, including MS Project, Excel, and Word.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in maintenance of electrical, PLC, and drive systems.
