Our client is a key player in the water sector, entrusted with a significant programme of work focused on delivering non-infrastructure water and wastewater projects for Southern Water.

They adopt a self-delivery design and build methodology for the execution of non-infrastructure projects, encompassing turnkey capital projects, new construction solutions, capital maintenance tasks, process plant integration, and commissioning.

The company is seeking to hire two Mechanical Supervisors for critical projects in Sussex. In this role, you will oversee site-based personnel in their daily operations to ensure project completion.

This position will assist the Site Manager in enhancing service delivery, which will be acknowledged by the client, while ensuring that key performance indicators are consistently met.


Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with the Site Manager on all operational matters.

Plan and supervise the Projects team and any subcontractors to guarantee that work is completed to specified standards, within the agreed timeline and budget.

Engage proactively with Project Engineers to prioritize work fronts.
Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.
Oversee the daily execution of site-based activities according to the Programme.
Actively participate in Daily Site Briefings.
Ensure that all necessary permits are secured and that related documentation is completed to a high standard.
Strive for high productivity levels on site through effective planning of labor, equipment, and materials.

Ensure that adequate measures are in place to achieve zero incidents, timely delivery, zero defects, and compliance with customer standards.

Support the Construction Manager in daily tasks and gain a thorough understanding of the role to act as a deputy when necessary.

Develop any required Risk Assessments and Method Statements, ensuring proper revision and review is conducted before and after job completion.

Focus on achieving a 'right first time' approach, continuous job evaluation, and application of lessons learned.
Attend meetings with sufficient detail to provide satisfactory updates to the client.

Ensure that all weekly and monthly internal and external deadlines are met, and prepare detailed reports to substantiate performance metrics when requested.

Collaborate with the Planning Engineer to create, share, and utilize performance indicators to enhance overall performance.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
Relevant engineering degree or HND, BTec, professional level 5 award, or equivalent NVQ level 5 qualification.
Holder of a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card.
Valid SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
Temporary Works Supervisor certification.
Demonstrated experience in a supervisory capacity.
Experience in safety management protocols for construction activities in general site conditions.
Background in Mechanical Engineering.
Familiarity with MS Project and/or P6 Primavera planning software.
Understanding of NEC contract forms is preferred.
Solid grasp of planned preventative maintenance.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Proficient IT skills, including a working knowledge of Excel and Word.
Previous experience in Water/Waste Water sectors is advantageous.
