Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic teacher to cover a maternity leave position in a primary school in West Drayton. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching all pupils in their class according to the National curriculum, targeting and adapting lessons to meet the specific needs of each child, and completing all records and assessments as determined by the school's policy.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Participate in planning and staff meetings
  • Teach all pupils in your class according to the National curriculum
  • Target and adapt lessons to meet the specific needs of each child
  • Complete all records and assessments as determined by the school's policy
  • Make use of ICT to enhance understanding of tasks and lessons
  • Organize resources for the subject/area so that they are accessible, orderly, well labelled and appropriate
  • Involve pupils in self and peer assessment
  • Use a variety of teaching and learning styles to ensure and maintain high standards of learning, behaviour and progress in the class
  • Attend all assessment, progression and development meetings as well as parents evening
  • Create and build appropriate teacher – parent relationships
  • Prepare pupils for going into next academic year
  • Liaise with other teachers regarding pupil information and needs
  • Always operate within the set policies of the school
  • Lead classes by giving lectures, demonstrating tasks, assigning tasks and encouraging discussions
  • Answer students questions
  • Set homework or exercises for students to practice their skills after class

Key Skills and Requirements:

  • Qualified Teaching status (QTS) is essential
