About the Role

Position Overview:

  • Execute all assigned chill and/or ambient warehouse responsibilities to facilitate the seamless and efficient flow of inventory from receiving to dispatch, ensuring orders are prepared with utmost quality and precision.
  • It is essential for the employee to perform all warehouse tasks effectively, accurately, and safely to maintain a high standard of service for customers.
  • Flexibility is required, as the employee will assist in various warehouse functions once adequately trained.
  • A Drug and Alcohol Test will be part of the onboarding process.
  • While the position begins as a Reach Truck operator, training in the picking operations will also be provided.
Work Schedule & Compensation

This position involves a commitment of 37.5 hours per week.

Shifts are structured as 7.5 hours each.

Multiple shift patterns are available, accommodating both night and day schedules.

Potential earnings can reach up to £35,000*,

which includes overtime and additional premiums for night/weekend shifts.

Poundland offers a variety of performance-related incentive bonuses, including those for picking efficiency, loading effectiveness, and working in chill environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all warehouse operations are conducted efficiently, accurately, and safely to uphold a high level of customer service.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to assist in all warehouse areas after receiving training.
  • Safely operate all equipment once trained.
  • Consistently adhere to safe manual handling practices.
  • Wear all provided personal protective equipment at all times within the warehouse.
  • Report any injuries, accidents, or damage to equipment, machinery, premises, or stock.
  • Perform additional duties as reasonably required for the effective operation of the depot.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in a fast-paced warehouse environment is preferred, with at least one year of experience being desirable; however, training will be provided to suitable candidates, along with opportunities for advancement.
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic.
  • Possess a solid understanding of warehousing and distribution processes.
  • Adapt to change and accept accountability.
  • Demonstrate common sense and self-motivation with a positive attitude.
  • Have a good level of numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Work effectively as an individual or as part of a team within company guidelines.
Essential Requirements:
  • Desirable warehousing skills.
  • Knowledge of safe manual handling techniques.
  • Willingness to operate Mechanical Handling Equipment.
  • A strong work ethic combined with common sense and a proactive attitude.
  • Possession of a valid Reach Truck or Counterbalance license.
