Field Technician

Position Overview

The Field Technician will be a vital part of the UK Power Networks Services team, specifically within the Airports division. This role will report directly to the Lead Operational Engineer and will focus on ensuring the seamless execution of all planned construction and operational activities.

Compensation Package

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary, complemented by an outer London allowance, a company van, and a performance-related bonus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute construction and maintenance tasks on UK Power Networks Services assets ranging from 33kV to 433V.
  • Support the Operational Engineer in adhering to project timelines and financial targets.
  • Conduct testing on protection systems and devices.
  • Oversee the construction and maintenance of control and protection systems.
  • Possess or work towards HV Authorised Person status for potential advancement to Senior Authorised Person.
  • Maintain and update the asset database regarding project activities.
  • Participate in fault investigations and repairs.
  • Conduct basic surveys and enter substations as required.
  • Supervise contractors and manage site operations effectively.
  • Document all completed operations, test results, and safety records.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven experience in operational construction.
  • A minimum of five years of verifiable work history.
  • Clear criminal record check and ability to obtain necessary security passes.
  • Full driving license and medical clearance.
  • Competency in working with high and low voltage systems.
  • Willingness to undergo training for confined space work.
  • Compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
