About the Organization:

The IFRS Foundation is a not-for-profit entity dedicated to developing high-quality, understandable, enforceable, and globally accepted standards for general-purpose financial reporting, promoting their adoption in the public interest.

The standards—IFRS Accounting Standards and IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards—are established by the Foundation's standard-setting bodies, the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the newly formed International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). IFRS Accounting Standards are mandated in over 140 jurisdictions.

The two boards operate under the oversight of the IFRS Foundation Trustees, who are accountable to a Monitoring Board of public authorities.

In November 2021, the Trustees announced the establishment of the ISSB and the integration of the Climate Disclosure Standards Board (CDSB) and the Value Reporting Foundation (VRF) into the Foundation. This transition was finalized on 1 August 2022, expanding the Foundation's structure from a 'one board/two locations' model to a 'two boards/several locations' framework, with offices across multiple time zones and a significant increase in personnel. The ISSB issued its inaugural standards in June 2023, which are currently under consideration for adoption by various jurisdictions.
